ROOM 21

Room 21 was one of the most enjoyable design projects for me simply because of the location of the space itself. Sited in Chicago's old levee district on the city's far south end, the area was a frequent hangout for famed gangsters, including Al Capone and his cronies. Elliot Ness raided this building during prohibition in the 1920's. This Italian eatery was designed to reflect the buildings rich yet mysterious history and included a "hideout room" peering down into the kitchen and seating 8 for dinner.
